ASIN or Amazon Standard Identification Number

A unique identifier for each product on Amazon.

Brand Registry

A program that helps brand owners protect their intellectual property and create an accurate representation of their brand on Amazon.

Break-even point

A point at which the revenue from a product's sale matches its manufacturing and selling costs.

BSR or Best Sellers Rank

A ranking given to products based on their sales performance within their category.

Buy Box

The section on a product detail page where customers can begin the purchasing process by adding items to their cart.

Category Approval

The process of getting permission from Amazon to sell products in certain categories.

CPA or Cost Per Acquisition

The amount of money spent on advertisements to persuade one customer to buy a product.

CPC or Cost Per Click

The amount advertisers pay for everytime someone click on their advertisement.

Drop Shipping

A retail fulfillment method where the seller doesn't keep goods in stock but instead transfers customer orders to a third party who ships the items directly to the customer.

FBA or Fulfillment by Amazon

A service where Amazon stores, packs, and ships products for sellers and also handles customer service and returns.

FBM or Fulfillment by Merchant

A service where the seller stores, packs, and ships products themselves instead of using Amazon's fulfillment service.

FNSKU or Fulfillment Network Stock Keeping Unit

A unique identifier used by Amazon to track seller-specific products within its FBA system.

Gross Profit Margin

The difference between the cost of goods sold and the sales revenue expressed as a percentage of revenue.

GTIN or Global Trade Item Number

A unique identifier for trade items often used in barcodes.

Hijacking

When another seller lists their own product under an established seller’s product listing.

Keywords

The terms and phrases that customers use to search for products.

Listing

Means placing a product up for sale on Amazon.

LTS or Long Term Storage

Refers to the storage of products in Amazon fulfillment centers for more than a specified period typically incurring additional fees.

MAP or Minimum Advertised Price

The lowest price a seller is allowed to advertise for a product as stipulated by the manufacturer.

Net Profit Margin

Calculates how much profit the company makes based on its total sales, showing the percentage of revenue left after all expenses are paid.

PPC or Pay-Per-Click

An advertising model where sellers pay a fee each time their ad is clicked.

Private Label

Products manufactured by one company and sold under another company's brand.

Refund Rate

The percentage of orders that are refunded.

ROAS or Return on Ad Spend

Calculates how much money you earn for every penny you spend on advertising.

ROI or Return on Investment

A measure of the profitability of an investment.

Sales Rank

A metric that shows how well a product is selling relative to other products in the same category.

SKU or Stock Keeping Unit

A unique identifier for each product and variation that a seller has in their inventory.

Sponsored Products

Ads that promote individual product listings on Amazon.

TACoS or Total Advertising Cost of Sales

Calculates the percentage of your overall sales that are influenced by advertising, which might help you determine how effective your advertising is.

UPC or Universal Product Code

A barcode used to identify products.

Variation

Means different versions of the same product, like different sizes or colors of a shirt sold under one listing.
